Behind The Glass
My final project is called "Behind The Glass", because behind these windows are a series of abstract colors that illustrate the complexity of the picture. My subject is the window pane of the front of my school, and the main object is the large windows that take up most of the picture frame. I chose this object because I believed that the window had a interesting shape, and I knew I could put multiple different colors together to create an abstract picture. The big idea behind my project is that I wanted an elaborate picture that portrayed my every day life. Every day, I walk by this window pane and I imagine how intricate I could make the window by adding colors. I chose this subject because my goal was to mix a group of multiple colors to create one complex abstract image. My school inspired my art work, because it is somewhere that I go everyday, and I wanted to create a picture that was apart of my school community. My work expresses a personal issue, because the window is very blanch and bleak, and I wanted to creatively find a way to make the window look like an abstract picture. I tried to show my upbeat emotions during this project by mixing many bright and abstract colors to create a singular picture. I created my final project by taking a picture of the window in my schools main lobby, because I knew I could create a very abstract picture with the window. In photoshop, I used the polygonal lasso tool to select the specific image that I wanted to color in. Then, I would click on the background layer of the poster to copy the layer, and I would then click the selected layer I originally selected. I would click "command", and then click the thumbnail to select the certain shape I selected with the polygonal lasso tool. I would select a certain color that would fit my project well, and then I would continue this process over and over. I had about 110 layers, meaning I repeated this process about 110 times. I am extremely happy with the final results of my project, because I believe that this is my best work from this class all year. I learned from this project that I have learned so much this year from digital photography, and I have become much more skilled with creating abstract photos.
